I feel like my numbers are way lower though due to the switch to Threes+ (Apple Arcade version). 6144 still eludes me.

@Dannybres Played a quick game to acticulate some of things I try to do.

- The biggest number is at a corner. If not, at least should on on one of the edges. I prefer top corners because I find that orientation easier.
- Try to get the same number in an adjacent cell. If I’m starting with top left corner, goals is to get half of that number on its immediate right. Following an inverted ‘S’ in the screenshot shown.
- Think about getting out of “bad spots” like a 2 stuck between two big ones.

@imyke Went to take a look at my stats, and apparently I just hit 3000 😄 it’s the only game that has survived the switch to every new iPhone in the past decade or so :)

Someone must have discovered the mathematically optimal algorithm or trained an AI by now, yes?

@jerrod simpler. Ignore the bright colors. The game design makes your brain want to care about the 1s and 2s. Focus 95% on the high value tiles, the 1s and 2s will take care of themselves

@jerrod @imyke I improved consistently for the first like couple years but have fully plateaued since - I can somewhat reliably reach 1536; but 3072, while I’ve gotten there many times in total, probably only about once every 20 or 30 games.

@jerrod If you play casually everyone reaches a natural ceiling in Threes. I didn’t get better until I wanted to get better. Then I was driven to get to the higher cards.

@imyke Threes might be my favorite game of all time. I play it with intention though. I would really recommend trying to play strategically. Completely different game.
