The failure to understand this.

The failure to understand this and act correspondingly at high levels of leadership - internationally and nationally - it's shocking.

This is the climate crisis.

@dmoser As long as fossil fool industry has unfettered access to finance & gov subsidies nothing will change. They need to forfeit their economic rights and become nationalized for the sole purpose of winding them down. That's exact opposite of what we're doing right now!

@Deane @dmoser

"Laying the groundwork for global civilisation calls for the creation of laws and institutions that are universal in both character and authority. The effort can begin only when the concept of the oneness of humanity has been wholeheartedly embraced by those in whose hands the responsibility for decision making rests, and when the related principles are propagated through both educational systems and the media of mass communication"

@v4169sgr @dmoser Capitalism is what's in charge, the flowery prose quote you shared is only mentioned in our society because it's the truth, not because it's allowed in any viable way... Claw back the worst of capitalism and maybe we can create something equitable, but not till then.

@Deane @dmoser

It could be said that capitalism is not at the root of our issues.

It, and all other '-isms' like it, are a consequence of how we see ourselves and each other.

Setting up an ultimately powerful 'them' blocking the way to progress is in a way just another obstacle in itself.

Learning how to find the courage to motivate us will help decision makers, as much as the rest of us, begin to understand the full implications of the oneness of humanity.

Is humanity doomed?

Are we on an inevitable collision course with extinction?

@v4169sgr @dmoser You're entirely wrong! Capitalism teaches people that the well being of those around and the well being of the land you live on is not as important as how much money you can make when you eliminate those concerns. There is no moral virtue in dismissal of the single-most motivator/justification of anti-social & cruelty towards others. It's not just another ism... It's what justifies incredibly destructive and anti-social behavior, which is what your response is.

@Deane @dmoser

How would these worst aspects of capitalism be re-defined if we take it as a given that we have found a way to love each other unconditionally?

What sort of a world would that be?

@v4169sgr @dmoser @v4169sgr @dmoser First step is understanding & healing the trauma we all experienced at some point when we realized our true nature of unconditional love was trumped by dehumanization & exploitation, which is the gateway into a life of unending suffering that's furthered by too much complacency/avoidance of the wounds! Thank you for your thoughtful reply and this resource.

I am impressed with the comments on this video, and empathise strongly with inter-generational trauma. I agree that this is something that will take concerted effort over a long period of time to heal. What has been done to the First Nation peoples is so heartless and utterly despicable that words cannot be found to express it.
