Five years ago, with @RightsChain we talked with some minor media and newspapers to ask them: "are you interested in a system to track and hold #copyright information on your #photographic material?". The answer was: no, we don't need it.

As #generative #ai hits the fan with systems like #midjourney and #deepfake I think it's a good time to make the same question: "are you sure you don't need it?" Whereas the answer will be a clear statement on their vision over their credibility and trust.

What do you think @xLontrax?

The need for such a tool seems imminent to me.

The new guidance of the #US #CopyrightOffice in combination with, e.g. #Italy's existing regulation to devolve #copyright for its #CulturalHeritage management back to the #galeries is explosive material.

@HistoPol @RightsChain @xLontrax it's kind of fun because when we started the project back in 2016 they said "that's not a business". In fact, it wasn't: it was a necessity, and it's rapidly increasing (IMHO).

Yes, and even without analysis, this statement was probably right back then.
What I have learned, in particular in the IT industry, timing matters a great deal. Just imagine if the founders of #Google had invented their product 5 or 10 years earlier, hitting the market in 1990 or 1995. Even in 1995, there was no www to speak of. So, any venture capitalists would have thrown in the towel at some point, before their was a real demand on the market.
