I wish there were a project like OpenWRT for IP based CCTV cameras.
On the back of this, my googling has just revealed the Tapo C200 and maybe my Tapo C210 might have a UART port, serial shell, filesystem, etc available if some simple soldering is performed...

This whets my appetite

The Tapo C200 Research Project

@kylegordon Many that I've come across are only configurable with Internet Explorer! Even recent ones.
@gruff That gives me the shivers!
@kylegordon would be nice for smart tvs too
@julesbl oh hell yeah, absolutely. I'm still using my 12yo 50" plasma and fear the day I have to get some LG WebOS powered abomination.

Maybe SamyGo and openlgtv are making some inroads, but having more breadth across the industry brands would definitely be nice.
@kylegordon
Think next time I have to replace my TV I'll get a computer monitor and just plug in what I need
@julesbl totally on the same boat. I just kinda wish for a 75" monitor!

Genuinely looking at 75" TVs and ways to hobble them so that their UI doesn't get a say. All my interaction will be through Kodi, as it has been for nearly 15 years
@kylegordon I've been using a 32" TV and a Roku box for a long time now, hardly ever use the built in tuner these days
@kylegordon hear me out: esphome cameras
@Joopd I have two ESP32-Cam modules and they're absolutely dire. The framerate and performance is terrible. I even 3D printed some nice cases for them.

Maybe I got unlucky with my ESP32-Cam modules, but they've put me right off.

Also P/T support still seems to be "glue on some servos"
@kylegordon thanks, I only heard about them, never used it myself.
@kylegordon I built openwrt for a dlink 932.... Zoneminder can be built for openwrt as well. It is a dream of the zm team.
