With #GPT4 out the internet is yet again flooded with the hottest takes on #AI. Especially the take, that everyone who isn't jumping on the train of using #ChatGPT for basically everything, will inevitably "fall behind".

Other people have written extensively about the challenges of using AI for jobs like programming. I want to add one more aspect, that I will call #AIdebt.

To profit from using AI while coding, companies can't spend the same time as before for refactoring AI code.

But also they can't just have developers sitting around. Therefore they either have to produce more code or get rid of some developers.

When the inevitable moment comes, where the code gets to complex for the AI to handle, they won't have the knowhow to deal with it.

Cutting corners and neglecting risks is never a good way to get ahead. AI is fascinating, but if you don't use it blindly for everything, you will be still ok!
