Close (2023) - Movie Review

A blog about reviews, mostly movies but also branching out into music, anime, games, snot bubbles; whatever I want to talk about

@Mahan To me, that Remi's suicide is so early gives us lots of time to see how it impacts Leo, and to ruminate on his reactions and guilt, as well as the blame he assumes will come from others. We see him struggling to deal with it, which helps highlight the harm societal expectations does to men and boys.

The summation is that although Leo pushed Remi away, the movie is very directly calling out how we teach boys to behave.

@auzzy That is more than fair, I totally get that. I just, personally, can't get past the presentation and how icky it left me feeling.
