Reading through tiresome blurb it appears that my county council is being agglomorated with others into some much bigger centralised council. Of course making the decision making far less local.

The local council may be a corrupt dynasty, but I'd far rather deal with that than some hellish centralized thing which doesn't give one single fuck about local issues.

@bob
We actually like the UK model of National and local government.

In Australia we have three-tiers and the StateGovt between the two other tiers is able to seize all development powers so council just do bin collection and a few other useless things.

As a result StateGovt is the most corrupt. Last we checked they, take heavy "donations" from the #constructionIndustry lobby and #propertyInvestors.

The #stateGovt should be abolished and replaced with more federal representatives.

@dsfgs @bob I dislike them all, but take the view that dealing with one local warlord - a corrupt but known dynasty - is better than dealing with an unknown multi-tiered empire of malevolence. Also I never wanted or asked to be represented. I would be happier to assign a delegate who can be fired if they are not doing the people's business.

@bob

The expansion of local councils creates more options for one large party holding power in neighbouring council areas to explore ways to gerrymander the border so as to minimise overall loss of power come the next election.

It's one more cut on the death-by-a-thousand cuts of representative government.
