Looking to sit for my #HamRadio General level exam in the next couple days. Unfortunately, my ID has my legal name on it and my current license has my chosen name on it.

I've heard that #GLAARG is friendly to queerfolk using chosen names so I've reached out to them about sitting their session on Sunday. Let's hope they're cool with it!

@robotfactory IIRC you don't need it to be a Drivers License. Place I did my ham license says:

When no photo ID is available, the candidate must present any two of the following:

Non-photo ID/driver's license (some states still have them);
Social Security Card;
Birth certificate (must have the appropriate seal);
Minor's work permit, school report card, school ID card or library card;
Utility bill, bank statement or other business correspondence that specifically names the person; or
Postmarked envelope addressed to the person at his or her current mailing address as it appears on the Form 605.

Edit: license is the worst pronoun. Makes keeping sentences together so hard.

@AMS My radio license was originally issued under my legal name and there's a paper trail with the FCC for the amendment to use my chosen name. Any reasonable person would pull it up on ULS and see that but ... well, someone I know was told to burn in hell on the air for being trans so ...
@robotfactory Yikes. Yeah, best to check on the VEs before showing up in person for it then. Why do people have to be so shitty?
@AMS The folks at #GLAARG got back to me and they are being very accommodating. They just asked for whatever documentation I could provide on my use of my chosen name. The history of modifications to my license will be enough they said!
