I learned early that ignoring my inner guide was not an option. Any attempt to override it would prove to be at least miserable if not disastrous. If following the beat of my own peculiar drummer was lonely and uncomfortable, refusing to follow it resulted in suffering for myself and others.

What a Shrink Thinks

@shrinkthinks Absolutely agree that we should all be tuning into and listening to our inner guidance. However, in those times, when we choose not to, the result is often not only more suffering, but a great lesson learned. It can be seen in a positive light as an opportunity we had to learn what we do NOT want in our lives.

@NorthWind @shrinkthinks Sometimes suffering isn't optional & out of our personal controls. I think that reality, which many folks from different backgrounds have experienced, is important to acknowledge. It's equally important to know that we can heal despite suffering. It's not impossible to heal, if we want to.
There's always incredible growth & valuable lessons to be grateful for whenever we ignore our own gut/intuition - if we're willing to apply lessons learned in our present life.

I think I acknowledge that plenty as someone who lives with a singularly unique cancer and I don’t feel any need for every single essay I write to include every thought or idea or experience I or anyone else will ever have. πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
