I was woken up today by a phone call letting me know that due purely to budgeting changes I’ve been let go from my full-time contracting position I just started in January after being laid off in September.

I am a former #Apple #engineer with 15 years of experience making apps for #iOS and #macOS. I also have experience with #Ruby. Available immediately for full time or contract work.

@collin Sadly I have no real jobs to offer in ruby.. That said if it interests you I have offered money to any developer interested in developing a few features into mastodon that I would like to use... It wouldnt come close to proper hourly pay but might be some money in your pocket plus whatever you develop is open-source.. might get you a little spending money anyway...

Let me know if interested, will be on the generous side for open source bounties at least

Mastodon is still looking for a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer (maybe even a DevOps Engineer + Product Designer), remote position 86.000 €/year!

You should go to their application page if you can see yourself working for them :D! I applied (was not nearly as qualified as you are) and it took just a few minutes (Name, Skill levels, upload resumes) so… Might be worth a shot :P!

@collin How are you doing? Any luck finding a position? For what it's worth I've been through the layoff train. I got laid off 4 times in 5 years in the 1990s from allegedly "permanent" jobs due to circumstances beyond my control. It was pretty discouraging but after banging my head on the employment wall things settled down and I've worked for the same company for 25 years now. Just have faith it will eventually work out and do everything you can to make it happen. Good luck.
