Gotta admit it really was a major bummer for gardens of vextro to be tagged as a virus by itch for a month straight and also get rejected by the egw at the same time, prolly had some residual spite from that fueling the piece

GOV is one of the coolest things i've ever been a part of, just an extremely dope anthology of cool personal games with lots of neat little thematic connections tying them together https://vextro.itch.io/gardens-of-vextro

Gardens of Vextro by vextro, Far Away Times, Saori & Nitori, lotus, sraëka-lillian, nilson, wasnotwhynot

Eight small games by eight creators.

I spent another couple hours fiddling with the most recent version of rpgmaker 2003 last night, after figuring out how to jam in my no-auto-battle/no-row hacks a few weeks ago. I just don't think it works for me, every time I've tried the modern rm2k/rm2k3 versions the fullscreen frame rate's been unplayably bad, across multiple machines and graphics cards. It also just, doubles ATB speed, and you can't change it! Which is bad for Facets 'cause it's very fast and hard already!
My loose dream was to make an updated Facets with modern rm2k3's graphics options (and also being legal non-pirated software), and post it on steam for free. It's a very good game and I'd like to share it as widely as possible, and unlike a lot of my games there are no "borrowed" assets. But the idea of courting steam gamers with a game who's back-end has issues I can't control just sounds like a massive fucking headache. I think I'm okay being done with that world for the time being.
Those are my two big angsts re:"trying to court a larger audience" lately. GoV and Facets are both beefy multi-hour experiences that spark big emotional reactions in people, but Gardens is too cool for even the alt-iest GDC affiliate and Facets is too precious to me to fuck with by changing engines (and too weird and hard to wanna pay to put on steam and then get mean reviews)
@farawaythyer what if in rpgmaker mv and friend help make art :)
@mutanthunt I don't wanna remake facets with new art xD The limitations of the rm2k3 chipset and combat shaped that story in a lot of cool ways (I started out using the red carpet tile a lot because I thought it looked cool, it wound up being part of the story!), I wouldn't wanna change it
@mutanthunt Making a new story in rmmv with friends is something I could see enjoying though ☺️
@farawaythyer mad about it for you tbh bc you're right it was crazy good
@opossum thanks a bunch friend <3
