"linux kde and gnome users" vs "kde and gnome devs"
@nixCraft people usually stop fighting about these kinds of things after they pass puberty.
@nixCraft and me over here using XFCE for 20+ years
@nixCraft did you realize the devs are twins?
@nixCraft Reminds me of when the Firefox team at Mozilla and the IE team at Microsoft used to send each other cake for each major release.
@anders @nixCraft Yup - the last one AFAIK was the one Firefox sent to the Edge team after Microsoft retired Internet Explorer. https://www.howtogeek.com/817409/mozilla-sent-microsoft-a-cake-for-internet-explorers-death/
Mozilla Sent Microsoft a Cake for Internet Explorerโ€™s Death

Internet Explorer was officially retired in June, which was a happy occasion for nearly everyone in the tech industry. Following a long tradition of sending cakes to each other, the Firefox team at Mozilla sent a cake to Microsoft to celebrate the end of Internet Explorer.

@Bright5park
Haha this is so cool. Even though you are competing you can still be friends ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
@nixCraft
@nixCraft Even among fanboy fights, this always seemed weird to me. When I started using linux long ago the most mindblowing experience to me was trying out different desktop environments. Being able to choose is a huge win for all of us.

@MrAptronym @nixCraft Back then, everyone were also very strict on differentiating between distro vs flavour vs OS vs DE

If I still remember it correctly:
OS: GNU/Linux, not Linux
Distro: Debian
Flavor: Ubuntu
DE: Gnome

You'll never get any peace if you don't say something like: GNU/Linux Debian Ubuntu Gnome. Otherwise, you'll end up getting replies "teaching" you about the difference between OS, Distro, Flavour, and DE.

Hahaaha. Still, good ol' days.

I can remember when this was very much *not* the case... but I sure love seeing their collaboration nowadays. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/109/938/961/150/555/638/original/b89be016ed94b33f.png
@nixCraft
KDE's post reads a bit passive aggressive, though.
@nixCraft I would imagine that the devs are also much more critical of their own projects than other users are.
@nixCraft The only fight that is ever worth it for me is Mac vs PC. Hahaha. Or, in the GenZ era, iOS vs Android. =))
