@ramsey yeah, also the interface is for none-designers so it have to be accessible for normal office-workers. We use it with SVG images for scalability as well

@ramsey Wow, that brought back memories of the Web 1.0 days!

In fact, I had to go check the MDN docs to make sure image maps were still supported and had not gone the way of the marquee and blink tags.

But yes, they seem to be still supported.

I think the main problem with image maps is that they don't have enough affordance,
