Sunak says UK to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons, says Russia threatens world security

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called on Ukraine’s military allies to double their military support for the embattled country, U.S. television news channel CNN reported on Feb. 18, quoting Sunak’s speech at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 18.

@knittingknots "the UK will always be on the side of "freedom, democracy, and the rule of law." (When it makes us more electable at home, where we're trashing freedom, democracy and especially the rule of law).
@freequaybuoy Not the only place in such a situation. Just saying...
@knittingknots It's funny how whenever I criticise the UK now, it's answered with, "but everywhere." I'm not talking about other countries, I'm talking about the UK. I can make the distinction of welcoming UK support of Ukraine as the utmost priority, despite whatever cynical political reasons our politicians may have, but I'm still going to point them out.
@freequaybuoy Not British, not disputing you, either. I just can only point out what's happening in my country, and it's pretty crap. I would feel high-handed to make detailed commentary of my own for a place I only read about. But I will not belittle your assessment, though. You're able to see it as a lived experience, like I do here in the States for our problems.
@knittingknots Thanks. Neither am I unaware, or unconcerned, about what is happening elsewhere (am a #Resistor as much as a #Remainer ), it's just whataboutism is being used to further deflect blame here - so effectively you can't actually discuss any domestic issue with most people.
@freequaybuoy That I do understand. My initial comment wasn't meant to be whataboutism...it was empathetic sighing and frustration with what's going on.
