Awesome! I tried a #miniatures #storagehacks and it worked! Magnetic sheet stuck to the bottom of a plastic organizer box, and steel washers on the bottom of my mini bases. Now my #battletech minis have a home of their own and won’t be bumping into each other. Planning to make one for each setting I play in: post apocalyptic, grimdark future… fantasy might need a couple.
@falafelwaffel I've been using washers on magnet sheets for most of my minis too, but mine are mainly for display so I magnetized the shelves in the display case as extra security against the minis falling all over the place if I bump the case. The washers also add heft to plastic minis so they tip less easily on the table too.
It's more economical than buying rare earth magnets, anyway.
@tiikerikani yeah I kept seeing people buy neodymium magnets for all their mini bases and then cut steel sheets to go in the case. Yikes!
I think the falling over might be because of the space between the washer and the edge of the hex bases. Gonna try to fill the gaps with milliput or something and see if that helps.
@falafelwaffel To be fair, some plastic bases have little round slots in them specifically for tiny neodymium magnets. And you can also buy "rubber steel" sheets with iron particles in, which the magnets will stick to. This combination results in a stronger grip, simply because the magnet is stronger...
