Note to self. Never use T-Mobile. Father in-law just got a new number but does not receive any texts at that number. Phone calls work though. I was texting a random person at said number at the same time my wife was talking to her father on the same number. The person who does receive texts at that number was previously a T-Mobile customer.

I'd hate to be the one to sort out that mess.

@litzinger actual texts, not iMessage? iMessage definitely stays linked to an old number unless you actually turn off iMessage on the device with the number or unlink it via Apple.
@dreadfullyposh that’s actually a very good question. I was sending as iMessage.
@litzinger so you could ask the person to remove the old number from their iMessage account or I think there’s a form on Apple’s site to do it if they won’t
@dreadfullyposh in this scenario though the person I was texting said their phone number is the exact same as my father in law’s. Not sure how it can be an issue with iMessage if 2 people apparently have identical phone numbers.
@litzinger that’s pretty odd
@dreadfullyposh Yeah so my father in-law just confirmed that T-Mobile somehow managed to assign him a phone number that was in use by someone else. What a cluster.
If the other person had a new phone number they use to call people but we’re receiving texts from their old number still then that makes sense it could be an iMessage issue.
