#Writing is too hard. Instead I am going to attempt my first loaf of #bread. Updates on both endeavors tomorrow.
Alas, my yeast is dead. First ever #bread loaf will have to wait for another day.

Inaugural #bread update: got some more bubbles after attempting to prove the yeast in warmer water so attempted to continue with the recipe.

Said recipe confidently stated a 1:1 substitution of gluten free flour would work. It was absurdly dry. Dumped in a crapton more water and the rest of the yeast packet. It'll be overproved, way too wet and over-kneaded.

Send... vibes. I don't even know what kind of vibes to ask for at this point, but I'll take whatever you can spare.

Inaugural #bread alert: it rose!!!! The dough actually rose!!!! The vibes worked!!! Couple more hours till I can #bake it so there's still lots of time for things to go south but it looks good for now. This is very exciting.

Another Inaugural #bread report for those of you invested in this gripping saga: so the dough *did* rise, but it's also WAY too wet and squodgy for kneading. I plonked it into the Dutch oven it'll cook in and brought it to the warmest room in the house for the second prove. Crossing my crossables that it doesn't turn out completely flat after switching containers.

Next time I'm doing a dedicated gluten-free recipe.

Final reports are in and data have been analyzed: Inaugural #Bread was a resounding failure on every level!

- Leathery, chewy, impenetrable crust
- Raw, sticky, dense innards
- Mostly flavorless (this actually earned some points back as the flavor was not actively offensive)

On the plus side, the recipe is vegan so it's still (mostly) edible, and even very poorly executed warm carbs are still warm carbs. Butter improved the situation tremendously.

@haley_exe try making toast with it. The toaster can hide a surprisingly large number of flaws.

Your next one will be better!
