I just finished Fairy Tale by #StephenKing. What a slog! Took me weeks to summon the energy to get through it. I absolutely love his books usually, but this one was a real effort. It started off great with characters you could really care for, but took a bit of a turn after a couple of hundred pages introducing multiple characters I really couldn’t care less about. Interested to hear others’ thoughts.

@paulpap I think it will translate well to film. You can squeeze a strong 20 minutes out of what King drags out over 200+ pages.

@d18matt Yes, I think you’re right. I think part of the problem with the book is it felt like there was never any real jeopardy, and the only characters that died were bit players. They might be able to ramp it up in a film and make us care more. The film could certainly look incredible.

@paulpap The stakes could have been higher. Or just clearer, maybe. There is that bubbling omega-level threat just beneath the surface (literally), which would play better visually.
