"Open Source is the most underrated tool in the fight for a more sustainable and just world"

#FOSDEM

@caludio But the "normal" peeps are learning that right now. Sad thing: We have to defend against #openwashing, marketing and sales people who have no clue , some also no honor.
@mfeilner yes, openwashing is definitely an issue (and also part of the discussion here at fosdem indeed)

@caludio PLZ loop me in. I am writing an article on that.

Examples for #openwashing : Companies that develop code, claim to distribute it as opensource, comply with legal requirements, but dont publish the code.

#projectphoenix from #dataport #opentalk by #mailbox_org #heinlein.

Both did choose to not to publish early publish often, thus it takes/took two years to publish code. Send me more !!! Loop me in!!!

@mfeilner I wish I had more examples, I think you are more into it then I am :D In general, as you already know, the feeling is that too many companies or projects are using the "Open" prefix for marketing something that open is really not. An example? What's "Open" in OpenAI? :D
@caludio One guy explained to me that it's totally Ok for corp to declare open source and not hand out the code. Legally, yes, but morally it is not.
@mfeilner I asked ChatGPT about it, and the answers are quite interesting :D
