File this under #Minnesota problems:

I opened my window for 10 minutes to get some fresh air into the house.

In that time, some ice formed on the outer windowsill (inaccessible without removing the screen), and now I am unable to close my sideways-opening window.

It would be preferable to somehow fix this before the baby gets home...

tl;dr: MY WINDOW IS FROZEN OPEN

(Once, in Wisconsin, my clothes froze in the dryer. #MidwestProblems )

The current forecast says the temperature in MSP will be 42°F warmer tomorrow afternoon than it was this morning — and •still be below freezing•

@wrigleyfield I really do not care for winter. Good luck!

@wrigleyfield In a pinch hot water will melt the ice so you can get the window closed, but it will be frozen shut until temps rise.

edit: Or a hair dryer or heat gun

@wrigleyfield That sounds crazy-making! I'm sure you already have myriad solutions for this, but I'd imagine my go to here would be a hair dryer?
@andrew I really regret having recently broken my hair dryer 😜
@wrigleyfield :( I'd be out of ideas and buying plane tickets.
@wrigleyfield Oh no. Never open a window. I had some animal die in our vents which I couldn't get at to remove and it was stinking up the house. I decided to open a couple windows and had a similar problem.

@wrigleyfield

Ugh. I second the blow dryer or heat gun if you've got one handy.

Also not recommended: leaving the spare diaper bag in the car overnight in winter.

@BoydstonLaw Ha, my baby is literally eating chili right now. (It has not been outside.)
@wrigleyfield I see you've gotten a lot of useful advice already. The proper Minnesotan advice, though, is to tough it out, not complain, and make sure you check the temperature at its lowest to casually drop it in conversation.
@wrigleyfield you opened your window yesterday? In #Minnesota. R ya nuts?!!!
@nyc2msp The air was cold but the air quality was great! Homes need fresh air sometimes.
