This is how idiots, grifters, racists, and Russia enthusiasts justify Donald Trump pleading the 5th more than 400 times in a single deposition. #GOPCrooks #GOPTraitors #GOPGrifters
@DemocracyMatters
Funny how #TrumpGOP hacks keep mouthing the US Constitution without really knowing the full meaning and implications of the provisions they are citing. I'm sure they don't know the reason why Madison & Jefferson pushed for the "separation of church and state", that people plead the fifth because if they open their mouths chances are they'll be implicated in a crime, and more importantly ...
@walterdunham @DemocracyMatters they treat the constitution like the Bible. They take like 1-2 passages from it that no longer apply and are totally out of context, and completely ignore everything else
@twitterreject @DemocracyMatters
Here are 2 passages that you can throw back at them ...
@walterdunham @twitterreject @DemocracyMatters they know dozens of cynic reasons against it.
@dr_jo_mue @twitterreject @DemocracyMatters
I'm sure they do 🙄
@walterdunham @twitterreject @DemocracyMatters actually, there are only two explanations:
They don't believe jesus

I had to vote 1 & 3 because 2 is a given as that's what the #GOPCabal was made for. I don't think they believe in Jesus either. They're just mouthing His words without really knowing what they mean just to get votes!
@walterdunham @dr_jo_mue @DemocracyMatters actually they don’t even acknowledge Jesus’ words. They seem to pick and choose a few random old testament quotes but never point to any of Jesus’ actual words or teachings.

@twitterreject @walterdunham @DemocracyMatters it's far more comfortable to take very ancient predictions out of content and sledgehammer them to fit to your worldview than cite the guy who was actually predicted and tought things in modern language which you don't want to hear...

At least when predictions and such nonsense are your thing.

We need more simple humanism and ethics

"While many writings were understood to be authoritative by Christians in the first century A.D., it took hundreds of years for the early church to sort through the diverse body of writing related to the Christian movement and finalize the canon of authoritative writings that comprise the Bible today  (and there remain differences between the Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox canons)."

How Should We Interpret the Bible? - Common Question - BioLogos

Clues to the original meaning can be found in the style of language, the genre of literature, the original audience, and the historical and cultural context.

@walterdunham @dr_jo_mue @DemocracyMatters my understanding is that most of the rules and such in the Old Testament no longer apply bc of Jesus’ comments about the law being fulfilled.
And the cannonization involved many political leaders of the time who all had different agendas for what books they wanted. There were originally over 100 books
@twitterreject @dr_jo_mue @DemocracyMatters
Jesus summed it all up into one commandment: Love thy neighbours as thyself. But it doesn't mean you completely throw away the entire Old Testament as some still find application today (the verse in Deuteronomy I previously memed). The point is not about how many books were included or excluded (an entirely different discussion all together) but as to how the different Churches interpreted the Bible passages (old and new) and canonized the same.

And there lies the hypocrisy of the GOP. They nitpick the Bible to suit their political rhetoric. The even more stupid thing is they even misinterpret what they nitpicked! But I don't know who's worse, though, the twerp who ran for office or the idiot who voted him/her into office?!
