#MicrosoftStore launched over a decade ago for Windows 8. How it can still be total garbage is just one of the mysteries of life.

When I went looking for a simple photo viewer app to replace #WindowsPhotos (which also remains garbage), instead of downloading the product's installer from the web I thought "let's be smart and use the MS Store instead". Oh boy, all the flashbacks of terrible Store experiences from the past decade came right back and now I need to lie down for a bit to recover...

Then again, 20 years ago Bill Gates tried to install Moviemaker and faced an even worse experience: https://www.techemails.com/p/bill-gates-tries-to-install-movie-maker

So, I guess there has been progress after all.

I am quite disappointed at how Windows Usability has been going backwards and the program management groups don't drive usability issues.
