❓ What would YOUR Top 10 open source applications be for everyday use, and everyday users?
Libre Office is great, but honestly I stopped using a word processor once I learned of the powerful combination of #org and #LaTeX. I use #libreOffice when I need to deal with other people's documents. If your missing functionality, look into the addons.
It is similar to #markDown. I use it in #emacs, which allows me to also use latex functions and compile it all into a #LaTeX pdf by converting the org syntax to latex syntax. It is a much, much quicker way to write than just using latex alone.
If you aren't familiar with markdown, most #FOSS projects will have a README.md, that is a markdown document.
