I'm of the last of several generations of a family who's men hunted and fished, and whose women cooked what they brought home.
Do I hunt? I haven't in some years; nor have I fished. But here is what I do know: I've never shot anyone in 60 years; nor have any of my forebears, that I know of; neither have any of us been shot, except those who were literally fighting wars.
I got my first firearm at the age of four. Interestingly enough, a four-ten shotgun. I was hunting rabbit with it the following year.
I've owned rifles and pistols of one sort or another ever since, as have my brother and most of my family.
We are not killers. We do not idolize killing.
The point I'm trying to make here is simple, and I won't belabor it further:
Firearms, like swords, knives, axes, and clubs, are inanimate. They require the participation of a human being to operate in any capacity.
