#TrailCam chat - is there a system that can manage several cameras (say, ten), transmitting the images back to a base station for easy access?

We're looking at putting out cameras on bird nesting rafts, but using individual 4G cams becomes expensive on the mobile networks.

Solar power for the cameras would be nice too!

the systems I've found (eg Cuddeback Cuddelink and Buckeye) don't seem to be available in Europe (probably because they use the wrong frequencies)
@sarahdalgulls Have you looked into LoRa networks?
@KorimakoEcology yes, LoRa is not suitable for sending images/video afaik, unless there's a way?
@sarahdalgulls Not video but you can do low quality images which likely be good enough for machine learning applications. https://blog.adafruit.com/2020/11/24/transmitting-sound-and-image-over-a-lora-link-lora-radio/
Transmitting sound and image over a LoRa link #LoRa #Radio

loracamera allows transmission of sound and images over a 915MHz LoRa link to a base station near a WiFi connection. Currently it is set up to a send a frame from a serial TTL camera and a few seco…
