I'm tearing my hair out with posters on #Ancestry today.

Researching one particular family, this moning I've already discovered an uncle and his nephew whose lives have been incorrectly swapped, with the uncle's death now recorded at 117. And in another branch, a Reverend has been mistaken for a Sir in the family two centuries earlier, so that all later sons have been knighted as well. 😫

This is why I don't trust Ancestry trees!!

@RosJ Neither do I. So many seem to be taking from other family trees and not checking the facts for themselves.
@ukgenealogylinks @RosJ I'm coming across so many trees containing errors. I don't understand why people aren't checking the data. What's the point in looking into your #FamilyHistory if you don't care who you're related to.

@LJClements8 @ukgenealogylinks

Exactly. If it's not correct, why would you want cling onto false family history? If I've made a mistake and someone isn't mine after all, they go!

@RosJ @ukgenealogylinks
I don't get not checking the facts in the first place though (some errors are glaringly obvious). You might as well claim anyone as your ancestor.
@RosJ I use them as a guide but research everything to prove or disprove. I also add notes in the birth description field on my tree like "this is not the John who married so and so" when I see discrepancies in hopes to help the next person who comes along.
