I just saw that Van Conner of The Screaming Trees has died.

Van was our neighbor for a while. We played his songs in our house by the beach. I know we all wanted to do more, but covid happened.

He'd been looking for a way back to the water & we showed him the path behind our house. He told us about the gray whales and how they dig for ghost shrimp in the shallows.

Then he suggested we NOT drop his name around the island lol.

He was a sweet & passionate man. Van Conner, you stomped the terra & I wish you all the best on your future travels. 💕

One of Van's solo tunes that I especially love. He wrote it with his then-teenage daughter. Jack Endino on drums.

@CuratorOfCosmicDust has been finding old text messages from Van, checking if our power was on during a windstorm, trying to wake us up to go look at the sunrise... He was a good neighbor.
