CW: Anti Indigenous racism, threats of violence

Paying Indigenous Peoples for their labor absolutely needs to be normalized.

Here's a sobering fact: A 2019 American Society of News Editors survey showed less than half of 1% of workers at U.S. newsrooms were Native American.

Natives make ourselves heard on social media because we don't have access to the same amplification as others.

So I'm going to start dropping my cashapp/Venmo and ending some of my advocacy posts with the disclaimer below.

For every few minutes it takes people to read one of my posts it takes me hours of reading, research, and/or reliving painful personal experiences I'd rather not prod with the pointy stick of memory to make my point. I endure verbal violence, white fragility, and racism. Don't believe me? I'll included examples.

This is true of most Indigenous folks who speak out.

I don't do it for pay. I do it because I feel it's important. I want things to be different for the generations to come. I'd like to think I'm having an impact and, while that is a reward unto itself, what I do is *work*. It's hard, it takes time, it's heavy emotional lifting.

So, if something I've done or said has saved your valuable time then it needs to be understood that the time I took to educate you was just as valuable.

It's not about the money. It's about normalizing the recognition that marginalized Peoples time and effort is just as important as yours.

You're under no obligation to use these but please take a second to remember why they're there.

Venmo @francesdanger

I got this message for having the temerity to protest the land run monument in OKC
He's talking about andrew jackson. This was in response to me saying I wanted Harriet Tubman on the $20
I called the tomahawk chop racist. This was but one comment of 2 weeks worth of abuse I took from Atlanta baseball fans.
@francesdanger Thanks for sharing this. There are such horrible fascist white folx in the world. I hope they choke and die on their own rotten hatred filled selves. I appreciate your ongoing activism.
