Is it too much for #reviewers to ask to cite papers that were published while the manuscript is under review?
Cuz I think it is.

Frustrating!
But if the just-published-paper adds important context to the manuscript-under-review (e.g.: has contradictory results), I do think it's the reviewer's job to mention it, and the authors' job to integrate it in a revised version of the manuscript.
If it's just another lambda paper of little added value, the reviewer should back off.
Same as with any other papers, actually (irrespectively of when they were published).
Is it reviewer 2 again? Good luck!
@anarodrigues Thanks for the kind words! It's not contradicting our work but definitely needs some clarification on our end which makes sense. Although I feel that such clarification didn't need just published references to be requested.
It's not reviewer 2 unfortunately! I can only say right now it's not my smoothest review process at all.
