@augieray nice write-up!

one thing to also stress may be that because it's decentralized no one person has access to ALL OUR DATA.

your admin (who you do need to implicitly trust) can read your messages, and the admin on the other instance (if you are messaging between instances).

but Twitter had apparently 7,000 employees who could read EVERYONE's data, and god only knows WHO elmo is selling WHAT to these days.

another hurdle is finding your people. Movetodon - recommend!
