Majestic_Sloth@daltonfunbar when I don't have goddamn writer's block (which I get is just a mental state but whatever) I tend to know most aspects of a story when I get the initial idea, and then I stitch it together as I go.

I begin with an idea. Then I write and whatever happens with that idea, I let it happen. Never outline or anything. But I write a lot of backstory and worlbuilding, which is mostly never used in the story but I do it because it's useful…=)
