@autisticbookclub @actuallyautistic @bookstodon started reading already. Also found this, and watched with my son. He enjoyed it! He says, “It helps to see that other kids struggle like I do.” We are not alone! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9098928/ #ActuallyAutistic #ParentingWhileAutistic #AutisticParenting #TheReasonIJump

‘We are not alone!’ 💯
I’m so glad your son liked it, we need representation! 🙌

I’d forgotten it’s a movie as well!
Thank-you for reminding me! 😄

@btaroli @autisticbookclub @actuallyautistic @bookstodon I found the audio version of The Reason I Jump online, listening now.I saw a documentary once, of a non-verbal young woman attending university, very intelligent person, but in other times, she would be judged as not worth trying to teach I am autistic enough to understand some of what happens inside a non-verbal person's mind, but not all of it, so it is good when a non-verbal person can communicate using other methods, so we all can learn

I had to stop watching the movie after 20 minutes because my senses were overstimulated. They did a really good job by showing how intense the world for autistic people can be, but for me it was overwhelming. Didn't you have any problems with that, too?
@KaCi @autisticbookclub @actuallyautistic @bookstodon I was able to manage by controlling volume and looking away to just listen at times, especially busy in the beginning. It wasn’t quite as intense as you get further in. #TheReasonIJump #ActuallyAutistic #overstimulation
