The (sort of, maybe a bit) revival* of #blogs might be a good consequence of the flight to the #Fediverse - at least I've started writing and reading them again.

This one on #RoundingErrors is a corker by @micefearboggis and if you're at all interested in #Climate #homogenisation or #Statistics you should definitely be following him.
A classic of the #genre.

*Yes there's lots of caveats, notably, it maybe too soon to tell..

Rounding errors - extreme edition In which I look in mind-numbing detail at distributions of measurement errors caused by rounding. Ostensibly to resolve an urgent scientific question, but really because I think they're pretty. https://diagrammonkey.wordpress.com/2023/01/07/rounding-errors-extreme-edition/

@Ruth_Mottram Thanks forthe kind words.

I’ve been hoping for a blog revival. I do like a good blog, but my consumption took a hit when Google reader was withdrawn. I’ve been using Feedly recently, which I quite like. It marks lots of climate blogs as “inactive” which is sadly accurate.

@micefearboggis i haven't tried freely yet - may give it a go... I'm going to try and revive my blog a bit anyway!

@Ruth_Mottram @micefearboggis I started a climate blog earlier this year. It's been quiescent recently due to work but planning to be active again soon.

Based on my experience in using the bird site to publicize new blog posts, I decided to build a curating Mastodon client that is friendly to bloggers and others who post periodically but not prolifically. The client recognizes a special periodic hashtag and gives priority to displaying the post, as summarized here: https://github.com/mitotic/pinafore-mahoot/blob/master/docs/MahootUserGuide.md#periodic-posts-message-of-the-dayweekmonth

@RSarava @micefearboggis cool, thanks will check it out! And yes, given other demands on my time, I'm *very* unlikely to be prolific...
@Ruth_Mottram @micefearboggis The main curating features of the client, such as controlling the number of views, work now. But the blog-related features implemented in the client will become useful only if many bloggers start using the periodic hashtags and many Mastodon clients recognize those hashtags...
