Denmark didn’t record a single bank robbery in 2022. To be fair, there wouldn’t have been much point. Due to the Danish embrace of digital payments, cash transactions are now so rare that only around 20 bank branches in the whole country bother holding physical money at all.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — For the first time in years, Denmark hasn't recorded a single bank robbery. There wouldn't have been much point. Cash transactions in the Nordic country have become virtually obsolete, with Danes increasingly opting to use cards and smart phones for payments.

@stokes Similar in Norway. Almost no one pays cash anymore. But by card, or via third party apps accessing accounts and cards. Also personal payments (user-user) is mostly electronic, with instant money messaging service Vipps dominant.

@stokes we have teller machines with cash in most banks. So we are still able to get cash in the banks if we want to.
