I guess this sort of social medium is sort of like being in a bar or a school playground. Some people to talk to you about things, but the other bird-themed playground has more kids, but either way you don't necessarily want to rely on the other kids as a source of news / information.

Other playground has more kids and a better jungle gym, but also more bullies, and it's not always open.

@TipsyDixit Hi, Cortney. Do you follow the hashtags for your interests? I'm following the one for #tea, which put your post into my timeline. It's a great way to find people to connect with. Also the local timeline, if you're on a server that is focused on one of your interests, is a great place to find compatible people. Participating in daily themed hashtags, especially photo based ones will get people checking out your profile and maybe following.

@TipsyDixit Came across this because of #3dprinting hashtag. I have an ender3 v2 that has been heavily modded. ( klipper, Creality Sprite Pro extruder, better bed leveling sprints, z axis anti-back lash nut etc ). I still need to put dual Z upgrade on and then I will see how fast I can make it go. I am also trying to decide between buying Bamboo X1C or building voron 2.4.. but that is a longer term plan. I use fusion360 to design simple things to print on my 3d printer. If you haven't done so, make an intro post and tag it with Introduction hashtag to get more people to know you.

@Rajiv @TipsyDixit My 3D printer was a build from a kit. I think I lost a wire in a recent move! And I haven't figured out which one yet...😂

@TipsyDixit Adding to following tags, you can follow them in separate lists and/or in your home timeline. For example, I follow #Splatoon3 in my home timeline which is how I found this post, but I have a separate list for other games like #Omori, #TWEWY and so on. Splatoon 3 has a decent and friendly amount of people posting right now.

I mainly use the Tusky app on Android and can set custom tabs, so I have the list with hastags as a sepaeate tab so it's easy to swap between my feeds!

@groovemd @TipsyDixit I think I learned about them by looking at @feditips. This article has information about lists, following hashtags and other tips.

You can kinda get tabs on desktop by checking "Enable advanced web interface" (Preference > Appearance) but it's different from how I use them on #Tusky on Android. It will vary from app to app. Tusky allows 5 tabs (Settings > Account Preferences > Tabs). Adding a tab for hashtags I think is a Tusky thing only.

@bookcreature @TipsyDixit It is hard to replicate the experiences we had on other sites, but I found it useful to remember that it also took me a while to build the experiences I had elsewhere. It takes time. But there are things you can do now that will help. Following hashtags is a great way to see content that interests you. And following anyone and everyone who appears even mildly relateable. You can always curate your feed later if it goes off the rails/there's too much moss or whatever.

@TipsyDixit You can always browse those hashtags (or even follow some of them) and then follow some of the people whom's posts you like.

Doesn't have to be forever. 😄 Follow a bunch of people based on their posts, watch your home feed, reply to some interesting stuff and unfollow people who got a bit lucky and don't fit your home feed at the moment.

Also, if a boosted post shows up that you like, maybe give them a follow, too.

Shouldn't feel lonely for too long. :)

It's been a bit since I printed anything cool because I went and broke my printer (for now) trying to install an upgrade T_T But prior to that, one of my faves was this cool GLaDOS robot (from the game Portal) that hangs inside my PC case!

@groovemd If you are interesting in replaying and are cool with doing so via ports, the Steam port of Psychonauts actually lowered the difficulty of Meat Circus! It's still stressful, but definitely not what it was in the past :D

@TipsyDixit That's probably a good idea. I did that too, but then I honestly began to feel even more alone. I just asked people on that server if they knew of a #KidLit one, and many kind souls pointed to me to where I am now. So do post your wishlist sometime if you start to feel lonely.
