In #Spain today a law took effect that will force #tobacco companies to pay the cost of cleaning up discarded #cigarette butts.

Good! The discarded filter tips carry toxins into the #environment and are especially toxic to #marine life. The #plastic polycellulose acetate filters are technically #biodegradeable, but it can take years and years.
