It's really outrageous that those people are still walking around free 😠
@lauratck @rbreich Which is literally what these fascist obstructionists want. They *want* the government to be seen as a failure and for violence to erupt so they can swoop in with a "law and order" mandate, and create an autocratic regime where white Christian nationalists make all the rules.
Either we're Weimar America, or we're We the People.
I'm convinced too many don't know this and don't know the difference.
@rbreich And an insurrection backer who refused lawful house subpoenas, McCarthy, is treated as if he's a normal candidate for Speaker.
“the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol referred four GOP members of Congress to the House Ethics Committee for sanctions for failing to comply with the select committee's subpoenas. Those four members are House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Andy Biggs, Rep. Jim Jordan and Rep. Scott Perry, all close allies of Trump.”
Too many Democratic commentators on these Potemkin proceedings are basically just helping the GOP shift the Overton window. Drastically.
“Even key individuals who worked closely with President Trump to try to overturn the 2020 election on January 6th ultimately admitted that they lacked actual evidence sufficient to change the election result, and they admitted that what they were attempting was unlawful.”

The DOJ needs to hold EVERYONE who was involved in the #TrumpCoupAttempt accountable.
@rbreich I almost feel bad for Merrick Garland, how he insists the "politics will not a factor" even after time after time hIs DOJ treats these people differently.
Garland doesn't seem to think a crime was committed on Jan 6 beyond the riot!
Our story begins in 1856 when a two months battle marked the longest hunt for a Speaker of the House in history... it ends in the middle of another one. The first time in 100 years we've gone to multiple ballots as the fate of Kevin McCarthy rests between dozens of jousting egos.
@rbreich
Nixon. Reagan. Bush I. Bush II.
Time and time again, Democrats and law enforcement told us that it would be "too disruptive" to have the rule of law.
Trump is the inevitable result.
How did you expect powerful politicians to behave once they discovered even war crimes won't be punished?
