I had a project I wanted to try to do last year but I’m finally working on it now. I have a Pork Pie acoustic snare (https://porkpiedrums.com/prod/7x13-vented-little-squealer-snare-black-hardware/) some years before I went Roland #edrums. The project is to convert it to an #edrum.

First attempt was with a Pintech A2E conversion kit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TTELVME?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details).

First attempt a fail and here’s why:

7″x13″ Vented “Little Squealer: Snare w/ Black Hardware – Pork Pie Percussion

1. The tab on the one end meant to be secured to the lug inside the drum wasn't bent but straight. I COULD'VE ALMOST looked past it but....
2. The jack cable.... it had the wires shrink wrapped (which is good) but the nut meant to secure the cable to the vent hole was on so, in order to secure it I'd have had to take it off (and that'd have meant reshrink wrapping the wires which... leads to
3. The jack alone in the vent hole wasn't a flush fit
Bottom line, out of the bag, this thing kinda sucked.

Attempt 2 HAS arrived and it’s a success (mostly). More tweaking tomorrow.
@Tazdrumm3r Glad to hear that! 👍

@DrumHead Now the fun part…. Figure out what to do with that extra snare. 😂 Story time:

I previously had the TD17KVX kit. I HATED the snare and floor tom on that kit. That’s when the idea to convert the Pork Pie came along. TD17 snare would’ve become the floor tom, with the Pork Pie taking over snare role (unintentional dad/drum joke).

I upgraded to the TD27 and the snare on that won me over. 😂 So, now I got to figure out what to do with it and best implement it.

@Tazdrumm3r I hate it, when things do not fit! Even if I'm prepared to DIY, it's always such a let down ... :/ Wish you good luck with the snare trigger. I had one (Yamaha orig) to use on my acoustic set together with the Yamaha EAD10 drum module and that one worked pretty well.
@DrumHead there was too much going wrong out of the gate. Maybe this DDrum one is a better option. We’ll see. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
