#Kentucky needs workers. The only problem is most business owners only want to pay #minimum wage or barely above that. This bill forces people to take #employment that pays far below a #LivingWage

#starvationwages

The #fauxChristian #republicans of the Kentucky #legislature have shown their #hatred for the #poor before but this goes beyond that. This takes food out of children's mouths.

The #conservatives of the #bluegrassstate have no #compassion.

@JDS
Kentucky’s public schools are so crummy, potential hires so undereducated, there’s little else to lure employers to the state other than low wages and anti-union (“right to work”) labor laws.

I know this both as a KY public school graduate, and as a former KY employer unable to find qualified help for even menial tasks.

Low wages > low tax revenue > little money for schools > poor educational outcomes > rinse, repeat

@HandgunYoga I have come to the realization that there are not enough people here who care. Those that do are outnumbered 3-1 so trying to advance helpful legislation fails at the starting line.

@JDS
Out of all working age adults in KY, nearly 40% are on disability.

Medicaid Doctors in KY are eager to help find a disabling diagnosis, qualifying the patient for Medicaid and growing their own income stream. I used to work for one.

True story:
Nurse: What do you do for a living?
Patient: I draw.
N: Oh, an Artist! Ink or graphite?
P: ?
P:
P: No ma’am. I draw a check.

@HandgunYoga I am one of the 40%. Was involved in a horrific training accident that mauled me. I get the full ride from the Navy, VA, and SSI.

Still, people like me can still have an impact by volunteering their services to the community. So many don't though.

@JDS
JDS, I am so sorry to hear that. It seems the only ones interested in reducing suffering are those who have suffered the most. And even then, it’s a small subset.

Where I had worked, the vast majority of Doctor X’s Medicaid patients were “disabled” due to alcoholism. It was a grift by all concerned.

@JDS Tax the rich or kill the poor.
