The Finnish government is moving ahead with its plan to tax exceptionally large profits earned by energy companies since the Russian attack on Ukraine.

On Thursday, the cabinet led by Prime Minister Sanna Marin presented a bill to impose temporary taxes on skyrocketing profits in the electricity and fossil fuel sectors.

According to the proposal, electric utilities would be taxed at 30% and fossil fuel companies at 33%.
