Hm. I like this #today idea as a productivity tool.

Kinda like making it real by telling everybody what I want to get done today. Even if nobody sees it, I've made it more real to myself by writing it down.

Maybe restrict it to the One Thing that's most important instead of the five things that are urgent.

I would force me to really think about the day ahead and what's important to me.

@nlowell It is hard because of the distractions life throws at us. But, I'm hoping focusing on the One Big Thing (which could be a lot of smaller tasks) will make more more mindful in general.

@loribslp @Mrfunkedude Good luck with the cover letter (and the job application in general). Cover letters are just the worst. Well, second worst - worst is the applications that ask you to upload your resume, then manually enter all the information that was in the resume you just uploaded. But still, I could quite happily never write another cover letter. How many different ways to do I have to find to say "I think you'd be a fool not to hire me"?

@Mrfunkedude I’m one of those people who sold their big house in the suburbs to travel #NorthAmerica in their #RV.

We’ve been traveling full time for over 2 years and after about 40,000 miles we’ve hit dozens of #US states, multiple Provinces in #Canada, and even #Baja 🇲🇽 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

@aliceonboard @Mrfunkedude It’s been a therapeutic experience. I suffer from severe #PTSD (Combat Vet) so getting out in the fresh air is wonderful therapy.

Exposing the kids to so many different cultures and experiences will be valuable as they near adulthood. We’re in close quarters, and that could go wrong for many families, but for us our bond has never been stronger 🤙

@Mrfunkedude I am a #sff writer living on the US west coast. I’m editing my #cozyfantasy short story collection called Spell & the Heart. I hope to have it in a publishable state by early next year. I’m always on the lookout for #writingprompts posted on Mastodon. They’re fun little writing exercises and I’ve gotten good responses to most of the stuff I’ve written, which is nice. There’s a lot of support amoung the #writingcommunity here. 🙂👍

@maries_cake @Mrfunkedude I have #dysphonia, and when I can speak, it's often at a whisper. Alexa and I argue quite a bit because she can rarely hear or understand me. I imagine she's mocking me when she responds in a whisper.

Hi Stabford! I Googled dysphonia and understand your situation a wee bit.
I found out on accident that if I really rage at Alexa, I have to unplug it and plug it in again because it won't respond at all. AI silent treatment sucks, let alone being mocked by it.

@Weez It's almost impossible to kill a starter unless you've contaminated it with something else.

I have kept starter in the fridge for MONTHS. The liquid will even separate and turn gray. I just dump 90% out, and then feed it twice a day, dumping out 75% each time. I feed it for 3-4 days. After that it becomes healthy again and ready to use.

#today We have a raging Winter storm in northern California with a ton of rain. I am going to brave that great outdoors in order to stock up groceries for the week. I'll also be logging on to my computer to work on my resumes for my planned job hunt in January. I also need to call and fight with Verizon for an overbilling and pay some other bills.

Kicking off my week by getting things done instead of netflixing.

#today Took advantage of a break in the rain to do the week's grocery shopping. #cooking Tonight will be crock pot salsa chicken tacos or nachos. Tomorrow is honey soy glazed chicken thighs served with garlic Ginger rice and hubs will make pizole later in the week when the storms kick backup.
