I'd like to encourage a local Cobb County, Georgia presence here, so I'm going to periodically under the hashtag #CobbCounty and encourage other people from this area to do the same.
@larryfeltonj
Also check out the new local theATL.social mastodon instance.
I’m also in Cobb and started adding hashtags for the local towns around here #Marietta #Kennesaw #Acworth
@bayport I used the #Kennesaw hashtag without realizing you used it too. We have a reporter regularly covering Kennesaw council meetings, plus we run a lot of other Kennesaw-related things. Acworth too though not quite as much.
@bayport I'm in Mableton, so we've covered a lot of #Mableton #Austell #Smyrna and #PowderSprings too

@larryfeltonj that’s cool to hear. I don’t get out that way too often, mainly within the US-41 I-75 corridor. Buuuttt… I do like visiting Rev Roasters out in #Smyrna when I get a chance.

#OldDixieHwy

@bayport You should check out the newest (as far as I know) Chattahoochee Coffee in Riverview Landing. It's in the City of Smyrna, but in the set of annexations that gave Smyrna its first real river frontage. You can sip coffee right on the river. One benefit for me is it's walking distance from my house (I'm in the soon-to-be City of Mableton, but surrounded by City of Smryna on four sides).

I'll post some more photos of complex including the river later #Smyrna #CobbCounty #Mableton

@bayport And here's a link to everything we've published about Riverview Landing, including the progress photography I did while the apartment components were being constructed, and some early articles about the zoning process. #Smyrna #CobbCounty

Cobb County Courier
@larryfeltonj hey I just connected the dots that you’re the same Larry that sends out the Cobb Courier email newsletter. Props! I really like your intros. They’re short and succinct but you do a great job capturing your humanity with them. I don’t get chance read them everyday but defnly look forward to a few per week.
We should meet up for some coffee on the river sometime in the coming year after it warms up a bit. Heck maybe even some Mastodon meetups too 🐘
@larryfeltonj no worries! Yea Acworth is really small and not very newsworthy. Although their downtown revitalization and focus on the “other side of the tracks” has been really good over the past few years. I’m thinking tax money well spent.
I like riding the longboard with Ruffers at Logan Farm Park in #Acworth
@bayport Acworth isn't exactly the big city, but there are two cities in Cobb smaller (Powder Springs and tiny Austell). Both are also working on their downtowns, so I don't think there's a single city in the county that isn't trying to improve its walkability and general urban characteristics.

@larryfeltonj

Yeassss! I’m really digging all these small town revitalization efforts.

@bayport It looks like we have hashtags for all the incorporated cities in Cobb plus soon-to-be-city of #Mableton.

So now all that's left are the two CDPs, #Vinings and #FairOaksCobb (to differentiate from the much larger CA Fair Oaks), and the areas that should be CDPs, #EastCobb and #WestCobb

@larryfeltonj
I wasn’t sure if Vinings was Cobb or Fulton? I guess the county line is the river?🤔
Regardless, I heard there’s a hip-hop themed baked potato shack down there that I want to check out in the coming year 🥔

#Vinings #potato

@bayport Vinings is in Cobb County, and yes the river is the border. Vinings is directly across from Buckhead (the oldest and wealthiest section of Buckhead, where the governor's mansion is). West Paces Ferry is on the Fulton/City of Atlanta side, and Paces Ferry is on the Cobb side. The center of Vinings is where Paces Ferry takes a right-angle turn toward the corporate
headquarters of Home Depot.
@larryfeltonj
I am familiar with the Vinings area. I’ve been inside that Home Depot bldg once and my office is in the area off of Powers Ferry Rd but just don’t go there much anymore since 2020. I’m lucky to be able to work from home during the pandemic.
West Paces Ferry on the other hand is too fancy for my blood. I’ve gotten lost around there cutting across to east Buckhead a couple of times but I don’t get down that way much.
