I’m enjoying all of the #JohnMastodon jokes, but let’s stop for a second to appreciate the horror.
A reporter misread a Twitter handle, created a person out of whole cloth, attributed major actions to him, AND THEN PUBLISHED IT with zero fact checking.
A quick Google would have sufficed…

When #Mediaite hired Isaac Schorr away from #NationalReview, they already knew who he was:
"National Review is the only place I applied to before graduating from college," Schorr gushed.

But Mediaite missed a trick by belatedly correcting the article.
Their appeal to modern post-literate conservatives would have been better served by doubling down with a followup article, reporting #JohnMastodon's long history of involvement with the #GazpachoPolice.
