Morgen de proefrit in de #Sion waar ik al een paar jaar op wacht. Een auto bedacht voor een wereld zonder fossiele brandstoffen. Na jaren ontwikkeling is er een bijna definitief prototype en daar mag ik in rijden 😍.

De vraag is alleen of de #Sion geproduceerd gaat worden. Het maakt de proefrit wat bizar, het blijft wellicht bij dit prototype.

De honderden miljoen die nodig zijn om fabrieksmatige productie op te starten komen niet los, ondanks meer dan 40.000 reservering van particulieren en (autodeel)bedrijven. Het bedrijf is namelijk niet gericht op het maken van winst maar op een wereld zonder fossiele brandstoffen.

Sono Motors zoals het bedrijf heet dat de #Sion wil produceren is een crowd-funding campagne gestart om toch genoeg geld binnen te krijgen om verdere externe financiering toch mogelijk te maken #SaveSion.

Je kan nu tot 2700 eu korting krijgen waardoor je, als de finaciering toch rond komt, je de #Sion hebt onder de 27.000 euro.

En dan te bedenken dat zo"n 44 Miljard uitgeeft aan het slopen van en dit niet gefinancierd kan worden. Want Sono Motors, met hun genderneutrale toiletten, willen produceren in Finland, in een fabriek die volledig op duurzame energie draait. Dat is duurder dan je zooi in China in elkaar te laten knallen. Dus zijn de financiers niet zo geïnteresseerd. Minder winstgevend dus dreigt de #Sion kapot te gaan. Kapitalisme gaat de wereld niet redden. Wij, de mensen, moeten het doen.

De Sono #community heeft de afgelopen jaren 10tallen miljoenen opgebracht om het project/bedrijf aan de gang te houden. Om dat te verantwoorden, maar ook uit principe, probeert het bedrijf open te zijn over wat ze doet.
De community is vanaf het begin betrokken bij de stappen die het bedrijf zet, en heeft bijvoorbeeld voor de kleur gekozen (zwart). Als je de website bekijkt geeft dat een transparant inkijkje in de ontwikkeling van een auto die je nergens anders ziet. Vergelijk dat met de site van Lightyear.

Hier, als laatste voor nu, een Duits filmpje van een van die mensen die vanaf het begin gepakt zijn door het idee, 1000en eu's er in heeft zitten, en wat zijn (emotionele), gedachten nu zijn.
