I've been reading about #XMPP and #Matrix and I'm kind divided since #XMPP is a well-stablished standard but it just lacks seamless functionality.

In fact it offers so much friction that I was actually surprised that #ActivityPub worked that well since the other #federated alternative I knew was just a real hassle to set.

#Matrix seems frictionless on the other hand. Opinions?

@LuigiDev Have you tried @snikket_im ?

@zash @snikket_im Nop, although I've seen it often mentioned since it kind of unifies the experience of XMPP and makes it feel more modern.

Do carbon copies work well with it?

@LuigiDev @snikket_im Of course, carbons has been staple part of Modern XMPP for a long time now.
@LuigiDev My opinion: Tried and disliked Matrix, and since have been happily (and successfully) running a #Snikket server for friends and family for almost 2 years.
@nebunez @LuigiDev I've been uaing @prosodyim for nine years. My main friends and family messenger for over four years now. Working super well.
@nebunez what did you dislike about Matrix if I may ask?
@LuigiDev The interface was confusing and slow, then I had multiple problems with my encryption key and couldn't use it. I use encryption with Snikket with no problems.
@nebunez thanks! It seems snikket os a godsend I shall check it out
