@jpreisendoerfer @[email protected] @lispnik we were talking about this at work, there’s quite a few interesting and under appreciated Lisp papers like these! The LeLisp, ISLisp, MacLisp, FranzLisp, and InterLisp systems all had amazing backing ideas that are under loved, to say nothing of things like BaLindaLisp and what not

I have a big heart for all of them, and I am particular in love with #ConnectionMachineLisp, though Steele didn't manage to fully resolve some issues with the semantics of the alpha-beta syntax.

However, since this work predates #CLOS, I consider it possible to resolve those issues with a language design which still uses the #Xapping concept, but combined with #MOP generic dispatch.

I've dabbled with ISLisp and InterLisp (have the thick blue book on InterLisp and have played with emulator). Mostly I use #commonlisp but lately I've been taking another look at #picolisp

@lispnik @jpreisendoerfer @[email protected] picolisp is always one of those things like newLisp that intrigued me but never enough to dive in and write up a bunch of software in it; I always enjoyed some of the ideas they had going, and before I shifted completely to Scheme it was one of the ones I was thinking of using as a daily driver…

@lispnik it definitely feels like one of those languages that you need a bit more of bracketed experiences to truly appreciate… I’ve largely moved away from Lisps, since I was adding so many ML features to Scheme, but they definitely always have a place in my heart (and I often end back there for first passes of new languages or IRs…)
