@Photoist reminds me of this Magritte classic #MastoArt #Magritte #ArtistsOnMastodon #Illusionists
@meoutloud yes, very suggestive of that

@meoutloud @Photoist

Yes, so very reminiscent.

And just to attribute correctly-- that painting isn't Magritte! It's called "The Sun Sets Sail," by the Canadian painter Rob Gonsalves. He passed away a few years ago. You can see more of his magical realism work here:

23 Mind-Bending Paintings By Canadian Artist Rob Gonsalves

Rob Gonsalves is a famous Canadian artist whose works are recognizable for their magic realism and well-planned optical illusions. One image melts into another and comes back again full circle, playing with our minds by creating irrational dream worlds.

@siona @Photoist thank you for the correction. I have a reference book but it's packed so I relied on the interwebs and didn't check thoroughly 😣
@meoutloud @Photoist No worries! I love Rob's work-- it reminds me so much of certain children's books, you know? So sweet and magical.
@siona @Photoist yes. I am in awe of the Illusionists generally, they bring magic into the world in their work.
@siona @meoutloud @Photoist yes because I share his last name and never heard of him until now, I took a gander. Wow! Thanks for sharing
@seanalan @siona @Photoist oh! And even better reason to be corrected 😊😊

@seanalan @meoutloud @Photoist

That's amazing! I've never encountered another Gonsalves. Magic in the world. ♡

@siona @meoutloud @Photoist yes Gonsalves is a popular Cape Verdean last name - but then again, there’s not a lot of CV’s in the world comparatively speaking
@seanalan @siona @Photoist Solstice magic at work, bringing us together through art and, perhaps, some shared heritage 💙
