Stealing this from @mammutfrank but I’m just going to answer 1 a day…

Day one…Walden Books was the first store where I bought #TTRPG. It was the brand new D&D red box.

Day 2 #ttrpg #gameworlds my favorite game World now is #DragonKingsProject but back in the day it was #DarkSun.

As an addendum I’m really interested in playing in the following worlds:

#WorldofLazarus

#TopSecretNWO

#ProwlersandParagonsUE

#BlueRoseRPG

#TheDarkEye

Day Three that would have to be Aleena from the Red Box. I was in junior high at the time and wrote my first short story for English class based on my character in the module. The teacher loved it and I still have it.

There’s also Talara Vordon from the #DarkSun supplement, #DuneTrader, by Anthony Pryor. I’d also say this supplement is one of the best splat books ever. I used Talara to adapt Jeff Grubb’s Ochimo module for #DarkSun.

Day 4 I don’t know if that means in-person or from something like Kickstarter or DriveThru. I did jump on the #ProwlersandParagonsUE bandwagon after playing in Sean Patrick Fannon’s game at #KoboldCon just before the pandemic hit so that’s kinda both. I also bought some art and #OSR modules from Lloyd Metcalf at #FehuGames at the same con. I also bought #Jackals by John-Matthew Defoggi from DriveThru while talking to him during a play-test session. I don’t know if any of those really count.
Day 5 the #TTRPG I’ve played the most would be #ADnD2e I’ve played or GMed it in #DarkSun, #ForgottenRealms, #Greyhawk, #Ravenloft, and a #HomeBrew version of #Midgard.
Day 6 I really liked my #TTRPG cleric named Musubi. He was in a friends #HomeBrew of #Midgard. He was all about balance and harmony. He’s currently a balor’s prisoner in the Abyss. I’ll tell you how he got there in a later answer. I’ve always wanted to play a character that is part of a rescue mission.

Day 7 so the #TTRPG I’ve spent the most on but haven’t played is the latest, English version (5e) of the most popular TTRPG in the German speaking world #TheDarkEye #TDE #DasSchwarzeAuge #DSA. Unlike #DnD, it’s integrated with its own setting, the world of #Aventuria and groups of players resolve the adventures and influence how the official timeline of the game unfolds.

Right now I’d love to find a group to play in person pretty much any TTRPG.

Day 8 well for me #DarkSun has always been my favorite #TTRPG for the art. I mean what more can you say but #Brom?

For contemporary games though, I have to go with #TheDarkEye #TDE.

And if you’re more into the comic style I don’t think you can beat #ProwlersandParagonsUE.

Day 9 My favorite #TTRPG for its writing would be the #DragonKingsProject but I just love the world so setting that aside I have to go with a couple European games #TheDarkEye #TDE and #TheOneRing.
Day 10 no I’ve never played a #journalling #ttrpg. Until this list I hadn’t heard the term. Anyone have any recommendations?

@Oiselarius I've only recently heard of them myself and would also like recommendations.

I do a decent amount of journaling over on One Post Wonder, so it seems like it might be a good fit for me.

@Oiselarius
I made a collection on itch-io of all the ones I've played. If you have questions about any of them, let me know.

@Oiselarius what do you like in terms of genre and tone? what's your ideal crunch level? i am CHOCK FULL of recs but wanna be able to narrow them down!!!
@nidorina I like pretty much any genre. I lean into dystopian whether that’s sci-fi, fantasy, modern, or cyberpunk. I do think an espionage journaling game would be really cool.
@Oiselarius off the top of my head you might like the wretched & alone system—not inherently dystopian but it has those same kinds of hopeless undertones that i think might appeal. murder! is a little lighthearted, relatively, but comes as close to espionage as i can think of—it's a w&a game about solving a murder mystery. the sealed library is another favorite; you're the last librarian of the greatest library in a falling city, trying to save what you can before invaders break the barricade
Day 11 a #hexcrawl hmmm I don’t recall ever calling it that but wilderness adventures even in the 2e days were a standard part of our gaming.
Day 12 I designed a dungeon back in my #BECMI days of #TTRPG thing. I wonder if I still have it? 🤔
Day 14 my character Musubi had a gem of true seeing that he really liked to pull out all of the time. Day 19 will have more as to why. #TTRPG
Day 15 a memorable #TTRPG relationship that my character had? Hmmm I really don’t remember any.&
Day 16 I didn’t start with collecting #TTRPGs by a specific #gamedesigner in mind but I’ve ended up with several games by #TimBrown; #DarkSun, #DragonKingsProject, #DragonKingsDS, #Traveller2300, #2300AD, Dark Knight of Karameikos, Ruins of Greyhawk.

Day 17 oh there are so many #TTRPGs I want to play. I’ll settle for pretty much anything but I would really like to play #TopSecretNWO. 🕵️

Day 18 a memorable #TTRPG villain my character has faced… Well back in the day Musubi and his party faced #Acererak, that was a TPK but for some cheating on the DM’s side. And of course then there was #Strahd in the original #Ravenloft module which led me to buy all of the books about him including the various setting versions. Finally there was a #balor…more on him tomorrow.
Day 19 bleed in a #TTRPG…well remember that character Musubi I was talking about? He is a cleric devoted to his god so when his god ordered him to kill a powerful fellow party member who wildly outmatched him, he did what he was told. So, turns out the DM was making a point on his personal views on unwavering faith. The order actually came from a balor disguising himself as Musubi’s god to teach me about faith without reason to question and balance it. Musubi tries to kill…
…the magic-user. Is rapidly and resoundingly defeated and is the play thing of said balor after his god abandoned him for being stupid all so the DM could make his personal point to me about faith v. reason. So yeah, I’ve experienced bleed.
Day 20 so how did I get into #TTRPGs? I remember it vividly. 1983, summer, went over to a classmate’s house and he pulled out his Moldvay Basic set and we played, in front of the TV with this new-fangled thing called “cable tv” and a channel called “HBO”. We played and watched the movie “Looker”, at 12. :)
