@SwiftOnSecurity I like running my own email server. Although it’s a Docker container called Poste.io which makes the configuration easier. The hardest part was getting all the SPF, rDNS, DKIM, etc… entries right to get past spam filters.
But now I can block all emails coming from birdsite even after I asked to “unsubscribe” yet still continue to receive them.
@TristanBinox @SwiftOnSecurity
Yes, it's great being able to have more control over the incoming emails.
Double amen to that
excuse me
this is awkward because my diary is analog i did not need most of my romantic partners to be called out like that

[self deprecating string of obscenities questioning my poor #opsec skills]
I am running my mail server for about a year and it had some problems in the start because I had no clue what I was doing, hopefully it won't break again...
@SwiftOnSecurity i have to say i am so so happy postfix + dovecot have just ran for so many years. i treat this instance like shit and it keeps ticking & thankfully has never been awful. but i probably ought be better maintaining it & probably ought deploy a better preconfigured option-set some day.
i spent a good part of my 20's smashing my face into self-hosting email and directory services, across a variety of different script/automation systems (shell scripts, puppet). these days getting k8s clusters good has been a long-burning effort. all detract from the real work, of coding, but all needed & part of the project. i don't want to skip.
