Final result (from a #BirdSite poll) - No surprise here at all...just think for a minute about how electorally successful "Brand Socialism" has been over the past 100 years.

'#AverageVoters' seem to like left/centre-left *policies*, but are scared off by the '#S_Word'...👇

#Branding.
@fencoul Yes I think the word has been too demonised. Always value in considering *not* dropping a word due to pressure, but when it's lost its meaning for most people (ie simply equated with communism) it becomes counter-productive. Not sure what new term can replace the good values it actually means though - I think we need a good, simple term that sums up the socialist-democratic systems we are seeing flourish, such as in Scandinavia, some European countries and New Zealand.
@fencoul I'm not a great fan of changing terms purely because we have failed to give people a good enough education.

@cbimages

👆 If we rely on education to result in meaningful change that puts meaningful change onto a rolling "25 years away" treadmill into the future...plus (see pic)👇

@fencoul @cbimages the word socialism has become demonised, incidentally by many that identify as die hard socialists. There is no middle ground in thinking that socialist values should coexist with capitalism. They’re not mutually exclusive if we can separate capitalism from greed which are not the same. I believe in social values and supporting thise with less than I but I also support progressing in a career that I’ve worked for that pays well. What am I to you?

@fencoul Tories are what the republicans are here in the US. The right-wing in most countries do way more harm than good. And yet, morons STILL vote for them, thus proving your point.
